Country stories

Myself and Chris moved to Dubai in April of 2000, both armed with nice jobs and the prospect of a beautiful house. At first I was a bit apprehensive about going to the Middle East (like everyone who has never been), but this was soon solved on our first look see in January 2000. Dubai is a fabulously modern city where a multicultural race lives quite peacefully together (that is of course until you start entering traffic where people stop being courteous and respectfully, but hey that is a different chapter all together). Chris had already been to the Middle East often and he did tell me, but I was still of little faith. We had a wonderful time living there for over two years not in the least because of the great people we met there and who we are lucky to call our friends. As you have to live without family and your friends from back home, everyone needs people around them to make them feel at home in these strange places. Even though we have decided to leave to make this trip of a life time we still hope to keep in touch with everyone (so keep those emails coming) and of course to meet all of them again next year (time flies when you are having fun).
