Moving around in India

We used rickshaw as our main mode of transportation. It is a good idea to first ask a local on the not-to-exceed prices, and then bargain your way down from there.
Typically we would pay Rs80 to 100 (€1-1.3) from the center of New Delhi to the hotel in Nehru Place, and Rs 20-30 for short 10-minute trips. We'd always agree on the price beforehand, and quickly gave up trying to have them use the meter.

To go to Agra, we paid:
- Shatabdi express executive class Rs 810 per person one way (incl. reservation costs etc)
- Shatabdi express 1st air-co Rs 410 pp one way
- Local Express train Rs 65 pp one way

Entrance fees are usually between Rs 250 and Rs500 (except the Taj Rs750... but then you get a Rs50 discount on the entrance of the Agra fort an other sites with the same ticket)
Entry fees are always more for foreigners than for Indian. In mosques and temples, the guys at the shoe lockers expect you to leave a donation (and will not hesitate to let you know if it is not enough!)
